Holiday Expired

Transform and quieten the mind and body after the hectic pace of Christmas by joining Lisa Dunn for a New Year’s Yoga retreat at Suryalila Retreat Centre in Southern Spain.

About Suryalila

Suryalila, originally an olive hacienda, is a fabulous retreat centre located in the heart of Andalucia, close to the charming villages of Arcos de la Frontera and Prado del Ray. It is less than an hours drive away from the historic and beautiful cities of Cadiz and Seville and the very best unspoilt beaches in Spain.

On the edge of a mountainous national park, the property sits in a large river valley overlooking rolling hills and in the far distance, the white village of Bornos, situated by the side of a large lake.

With its beautifully decorated rooms, gorgeous rolling hills and olive groves, sauna, salt water pool and nourishing meals, Suryalila offers it all.

The daily programme

Enjoy energising morning flow yoga and replenishing afternoon restorative yoga. Relax the mind with a daily meditation practice and return to nature with guided walks in the beautiful Andalucían countryside. This retreat is a perfect balance of movement and stillness to help welcome in 2019 with deep insights, a revitalized sense of purpose and a joyous celebration of being alive. The classes will be suitable for all levels and experience.

Suryalila has a magnificent dome yoga shala. This stunning space with underfloor heating has a dome window with breathtaking views across the rolling hills.

Throughout the day you will be offered three delicious vegetarian meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Suryalila kitchen specialises in gourmet international vegetarian cuisine, using the freshest seasonal, locally-sourced organic fruits and vegetables available, artfully prepared in a varied and truly eclectic international menu.

Between yoga classes there will be the chance to explore the beautiful natural surroundings or simply relax.

Things to do

Suryalila is perfectly located to visit many of the stunningly beautiful and culturally rich towns and cities of Andalucia, as well as the gorgeous unspoiled beaches of the Costa de Luz.

There will be time set aside each day to take in the stunning beauty of the surroundings. Perfect for long walks, bicycle rides or massage treatments at Suryalila's treatment rooms with local therapists.

Included in the retreat price is an excursion to Grazalema, a beautiful white town nestled in the mountains close to Suryalila. There will be a guided hike in the national park followed by a visit to the town. During the retreat there will also be a chance to enjoy a traditional Flamenco dance class.

On New Year’s Eve the local small town, Prado del Rey, celebrates in the town plaza with fancy dress costumes, music and fireworks! Starting with dinner at Suryalila there is an option for any willing participants to join in as well and wear their own fancy dress - this is only for those who would like to and absolutely not mandatory at all!

Accommodation

Suryalila offers luxurious, comfortable, designer decorated accommodation in little houses each with their own kitchen and living room area.

There are different levels of accommodation to suit every budget, including doubles with private bathrooms, singles, twins and spacious mini dormitories for up to four people.

Beautiful yurts and canvas tents with proper beds, furniture and electricity are also on offer for those who want something comfortable but more affordable and to get closer to nature.

Client Reviews

We absolutely loved the retreat - the venue was lovely and the food out of this world!! We really loved Lisa’s teaching too - she created a lovely energy amongst the group and we met some great people - would definitely go again! A really excellent and refreshing week
Sasha
I spent an amazing and beautiful week at Suryalila. We celebrated the New Year's Eve practicing yoga, we danced flamenco, and visited the lovely surrounding of the place. Moreover I met many interesting and dedicated yogis and yoginis in an amazing location in the middle of the Andalusia's countryside. Together with our teacher Lisa I learnt how to practice yoga with more kindness and passion improving self-compassion and self-awareness. I will certainly recommend this place for those who are looking for a peaceful and really cosy place.

Probably the best trip of my life; I will follow wherever Lisa goes! The location was exceptional and the food incredible but the yoga blew my mind. The classes were varied and engaging. We were mixed in ability but everyone was buzzing at the end of each session; they were like little journeys that took you to another place. I really enjoyed Lisa’s style and the use of readings in her sessions. I learned a lot about myself during some of the more restorative and reflective sessions and nailed some poses I never thought would be possible for me through the supportive and progressive style of the classes. She is also great fun and joined us on excursions and activities where she became one of the gang. I will be back! Thank you all for my best ever New Year.
Roxy
I absolutely loved the trip and couldn't praise it highly enough. I was really pleased with all aspects of the holiday - fantastic teachers, friendly centre staff, beautiful venue, quality accommodation, delicious food, great facilities and optional extras (massage, horse riding, on site shop, excursions) and smooth travel arrangements. I would highly recommend it and would definitely book with Yoga on a Shoestring and to go to Suryalila again.
Kate

Our week at Suryalila was truly amazing. The people were fun, kind and so wonderful. The venue was spectacular - I don't know think I'll ever forget watching a flock of birds flying across the dome as the sun rose during out yoga class! Another key highlight was the food, we were so spoilt with such incredible food. A huge thank you to everyone who made it such a special week. I look forward to my next visit!
