Suryalila, originally an olive hacienda, is a fabulous retreat centre located in the heart of Andalucia, close to the charming villages of Arcos de la Frontera and Prado del Ray. It is less than an hour's drive away from the historic and beautiful cities of Cadiz and Seville and the very best unspoilt beaches in Spain.
On the edge of a mountainous national park, the property sits in a large river valley overlooking rolling hills and in the far distance, the white village of Bornos, situated by the side of a large lake.
With its beautifully decorated rooms, gorgeous rolling hills and olive groves, salt water pool and nourishing meals, Suryalila offers it all.
The daily programme
You will enjoy two yoga classes daily with Lisa which will awaken your body, mind and spirit in the most enjoyable way. Options will be provided to suit all levels.
Uplifting yoga classes will allow you to begin each morning with grace, moving in a creative, flowing sequence of yoga postures. Through developing your awareness of alignment and mindful technique, you will deepen and advance your personal yoga practice. The dynamic class will leave you feeling strong, energised and open - and very ready for the delicious Suryalila breakfast!
A more restorative and meditative yoga practice will be offered in the evening, working on releasing areas of deep-rooted tension and resistance. The classes will combine elements of yin yoga, restorative yoga and meditation for a nourishing and healing practice.
Suryalila has two inspiring, spacious and fully equipped yoga shalas. One with wooden floors, a beamed ceiling and plenty of light and air. The other is a magnificent dome yoga shala with underfloor heating and a dome window with breathtaking views across the rolling hills. There will be the opportunity to practice in both places during your stay.
Throughout the day you will be offered three delicious vegetarian meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Suryalila kitchen specialises in gourmet international vegetarian cuisine, using the freshest seasonal, locally-sourced organic fruits and vegetables available, artfully prepared in a varied and truly eclectic international menu.
Between yoga classes there will be the chance to explore the beautiful natural surroundings or simply relax by the natural saltwater swimming pool with views of the surrounding hills or in a hammock in the shade of the olive grove. During the week there will be one yoga free day.

That was a beautiful holiday, the yoga with Lisa was wonderful, as usual, but also what made it so special was the mix of people, they were such a lovely bunch and we all got along famously. It was a very happy week. I loved it! Thank you also for your organising, always spot on.Helen
Thank you so much for your help in arranging my Suryalila trip. It completely exceeded my expectations in every way! The surroundings, facilities, food, staff and yoga at Suryalila were all superlative. I have never come back from a holiday feeling so rejuvenated. I would go back in a heartbeat!Ellie
I absolutely loved the trip and couldn't praise it highly enough. I was really pleased with all aspects of the holiday - fantastic teacher, friendly centre staff, beautiful venue, quality accommodation, delicious food, great facilities and optional extras (massage, horse riding, on site shop, excursions) and smooth travel arrangements. I would highly recommend it and would definitely book with Yoga on a Shoestring and to go to Suryalila again.Kate
Our week at Suryalila was truly amazing. The people were fun, kind and so wonderful. The venue was spectacular - I don't know think I'll ever forget watching a flock of birds flying across the dome as the sun rose during out yoga class! Another key highlight was the food, we were so spoilt with such incredible food. A huge thank you to everyone who made it such a special week. I look forward to my next visit!Zahra
It was such a magical and fantastic week. The teaching was incredible; so well thought through and the way the sessions complimented each other gave the sense of being on a yoga journey, even though it was just a week. Lisa is an amazing teacher, compassionate, kind, flexible (in all senses of the words) and really got to know our individual strengths and differences. The group were delightful.Lucy
