Teacher Sunita Devi

Holiday Expired

The Quaives Retreat is a hidden gem, surrounded by the peaceful countryside of East Kent, a real escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, which is in easy reach with the high speed rail from London to Canterbury West Station, just 15 minutes ride away. Set within 19 acres it provides a real sense of retreat with a touch of luxury. There are beautifully manicured secret gardens and tree-lined fields and in the middle of the grounds, a tennis court with a pair of rackets and balls for anyone who’s up for a game!

The Quaives estate has some interesting history being previously owned by Christine McVie from Fleetwood Mac for 25 years.

There is a stunning brand new purpose built yoga studio with high ceilings, underfloor heating and filled with natural light. A haven in nature awaits.

The daily programme

The first class will be on Friday evening, followed by a delicious dinner. Sunita will then lead you through two classes on the Saturday, a more dynamic morning class to align to body and breath and an afternoon practice to delve deeper into the postures and relax and restore. Each morning will start with meditation or a guided walk. On Sunday there will be a morning practice before breakfast, another shorter class before lunch and the end of the retreat.

Each day after morning yoga and a healthy breakfast, there will be the opportunity to walk, have a massage, relax and wonder through nature in the stunning grounds. Arrival time on Friday 26 November is from 4pm onwards. The first yoga session will be at 5.30pm. The weekend will finish on Sunday 28 November after lunch at 2pm.

Things to do

From The Quaives there are lots of beautiful walks to go on through neighbouring picturesque villages with traditional Kent oast houses and mills. There are plenty of relaxation spots for you to take advantage of in the gardens.

Beneath the pine trees in the far open field there is a Scandinavian wood-fired hot tub to enjoy the vast sky, views of the tree lines and surrounding countryside by day and stargazing at night - if you’re lucky you’ll see a shooting star or hear the lions roaring in the nearby zoo.

Accommodation & food

There is a range of accommodation options from double and twin bed cottage rooms to shared dormitories nestled within the grounds. All rooms have a luxury contemporary feel with modern comforts and beautifully designed bathrooms. The cottages have lounge areas offering a haven to relax and rest in. The beautiful Scandinavian style dormitory has eight adult bunk beds in a stylish, cosy, clean spacious room, with 3 modern toilet and shower facilities. Delicious organic, vegetarian food will be served throughout the retreat - delights to nourish body and soul.

Comments

I had such a wonderful weekend with you. I loved the yoga schedule with so much variety and continuity at the same time. Saturday was such a treat; filling the day with so much inspirational yoga as well as deeply relaxing breath and meditation practice too. Sunday's early morning walk was a perfect beginning to the day.

Sunita is a wonderful teacher. Her style and energy hit all the right notes and she gave a great deal of herself to ensure all needs of the group were met.

Thank you for organising such a magical retreat. I really struggle to switch off and relax, but the setting was so lovely that it instantly slowed me down. Sunita’s flows are always a firm fave for me anyway - but I had no idea of all the other strings she had to her now so it was so lovely to have that mix of flow, yin and nidra. The journaling sesh was also a lovely touch.

A wonderful escape from everyday life. I received a warm welcome and the cottage was lovely; clean, cosy and beautifully decorated. The classes were great; excellent instruction, loads of guidance and new learning. The food was fantastic and there was plenty of it! The gardens and countryside were beautiful. Keep up the good work - this is a gem of a place.

Everything is perfect! The location is easy to access from London, the property is magical with loads of green space to chill during the day and escape the city. The yoga practice was a unique experience and I learnt a lot. The food was another special touch - healthy, delicious and different!

From the moment I arrived, I relaxed. The Quaives is in a gorgeous location and Clare and her family have transformed the lovely outbuildings to a place of serene tranquility.
