Holiday Expired

The Quaives is a hidden gem surrounded by the peaceful countryside of East Kent, the perfect setting for an exclusive New Year retreat. A real escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet in easy reach with the high speed rail from London to Canterbury West Station, just 15 minutes ride away. A haven in nature awaits.

Set within 19 acres it provides a real sense of retreat with a touch of luxury. There are beautifully manicured secret gardens and tree-lined fields. The Quaives estate has some interesting history too being previously owned by Christine McVie from Fleetwood Mac for 25 years.

The yoga space is a stunning purpose built studio with high ceilings, underfloor heating and abundant natural light.

Spend the first days of 2021 with a small group in this stunning space. Numbers for this retreat have been limited to allow plenty of space for yoga practice and in all communal areas.

The daily programme

Take the first few days of 2021 to align and nourish. The first class will be on the Friday evening followed by a delicious dinner. Kate will lead you through a weekend programme of yoga to refresh the body, set intentions and balance the mind. She will guide you deeper into your practice with two classes on the Saturday, a long morning class to align to body and breath and an afternoon practice to delve deeper into the postures.

On Sunday there will be a long morning practice before breakfast and a short class before lunch. There will be mantra, meditations and special practices woven into the asana classes.

Each day after morning yoga and a healthy breakfast, there will be the opportunity to walk, relax and wonder through nature in the stunning grounds. Arrival time on Friday 1 January is from 4pm onwards. The first yoga session will be at 5.30pm. The weekend will finish on Sunday after lunch at 2pm.

Things to do

From The Quaives there are lots of beautiful walks to go on through neighbouring picturesque villages with traditional Kent oast houses and mills. There are plenty of relaxation spots for you to take advantage of in the gardens.

Beneath the pine trees in the far open field there is a Scandinavian wood-fired hot tub to enjoy the vast sky, views of the tree lines and surrounding countryside by day and stargazing at night. Each day after morning yoga there will be the opportunity to walk, relax and set your intentions for the new year.

Accommodation & food

There is a range of accommodation options from double and twin bed cottage rooms to a shared dormitory nestled within the grounds. All rooms have a luxury contemporary feel with modern comforts and beautifully designed bathrooms. The cottages have lounge areas offering a haven to relax and rest in. The beautiful Scandinavian style dormitory usually sleeps 8 but we have reduced this to 3 so each person has their own bathroom with a modern toilet and shower facilities. Delicious organic, vegetarian food will be served throughout the retreat - delights to nourish body and soul.

From the moment I arrived, I relaxed. The Quaives is in a gorgeous location and Clare and her family have transformed the lovely outbuildings to a place of serene tranquility.

Kate is a very special person and creates a group dynamic that is so supportive and nurturing from which you feel able to just 'be'. The yoga was fantastic, set at just the right pace and the spiritual element adds hugely to the journey.
