About The Quaives

The Quaives Retreat is a hidden gem, surrounded by the peaceful countryside of East Kent. A real escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, which is in easy reach with the high speed rail from London to Canterbury West Station.

Set within 19 acres, The Quaives provides a real sense of retreat with a touch of luxury. There are beautifully manicured secret gardens, tree-lined fields, a tennis court and a wood-fired hot tub. A haven in nature awaits. The yoga studio is a stunning barn conversion full of natural light with high ceilings and underfloor heating.

The Quaives estate also has some interesting history being previously owned by Christine McVie from Fleetwood Mac for 25 years.

Retreat programme

The first class will be on Friday evening, followed by a delicious dinner. Amy will then lead you through two classes on the Saturday, a more dynamic morning class to align to body and breath and an afternoon practice to delve deeper into the postures and relax and restore.

Each morning will start with meditation or a guided walk. On Sunday there will be a morning practice before breakfast, another shorter class before lunch and the end of the retreat.

Each day after morning yoga and a healthy breakfast, there will be the opportunity to walk, have a massage, relax and wonder through nature in the stunning grounds. Arrival time on Friday 29 July is from 4pm onwards. The first yoga session will be at 5.30pm. The weekend will finish on Sunday 31 July after lunch at 2pm.

Things to do

From The Quaives there are lots of beautiful walks to go on through neighbouring picturesque villages with traditional Kent oast houses and mills. There are plenty of relaxation spots for you to take advantage of in the gardens.

Beneath the pine trees in the far open field there is a Scandinavian wood-fired hot tub to enjoy the vast sky, views of the tree lines and surrounding countryside by day and stargazing at night.

Accommodation & food

There is a range of accommodation options from double and twin bed cottage rooms to shared dormitories nestled within the grounds. All rooms have a luxury contemporary feel with modern comforts and beautifully designed bathrooms. The cottages have lounge areas offering a haven to relax and rest in.

The beautiful Scandinavian style dormitory has adult bunk beds in a stylish, cosy, clean spacious room, with 3 modern toilet and shower facilities.

Delicious organic, vegetarian food will be served throughout the retreat - delights to nourish body and soul.

Client Reviews

I had such a wonderful weekend with you. I loved the yoga schedule with so much variety and continuity at the same time. Saturday was such a treat; filling the day with so much inspirational yoga as well as deeply relaxing breath and meditation practice too. Sunday's early morning walk was a perfect beginning to the day.

Keep up the good work - this is a gem of a place.

Everything is perfect! The location is easy to access from London, the property is magical with loads of green space to chill during the day and escape the city. The yoga practice was a unique experience and I learnt a lot. The food was another special touch - healthy, delicious and different!

From the moment I arrived, I relaxed. The Quaives is in a gorgeous location and Clare and her family have transformed the lovely outbuildings to a place of serene tranquility.
