About Masseria della Zingara

Masseria della Zingara, the house of the gypsy, was built in 1710 and has been lovingly restored to suit all ages and tastes. The interior is stylish and comfortable and has been restored with the highest attention to detail.

Set in over 20 acres of land with olive, fig, cherry and almond trees, the views are stunning at all times of the year. The house has a swimming pool and wonderful sun terrace for soaking up the Italian sun and the calm of the countryside. You may choose to borrow the bicycles and explore the local region or just relax and unwind. Close to Polignano a Mare (also known as the ice cream capital of Italy) and Monopoli, this holiday offers not only yoga but the very best in Italian food.

Situated on a ridge of hills extending the length of Puglia, Masseria della Zingara, is close to a series of scattered white-walled medieval towns and villages each boasting their own culinary specialities. Heading down through the olive plains to the sea where there are many fabulous beaches to explore. This is the perfect place to restore and rejuvenate your soul.

The daily programme

Join Catherine for a week of revitalising yoga at the beautiful Masseria. A wonderful opportunity for you to relax your mind, rejuvenate your body and reawaken your spirit in beautiful Puglia, Italy. You will enjoy two yoga classes daily which focus on movement, breath and relaxation.

The day will begin with meditation and an alignment based asana practice. As you develop a stronger connection of your alignment and movement patterns, you will gradually release and unwind, letting go of long held tensions and make space for a delicious breakfast served on the terrace. The group will meet again in the late afternoon to work into a deeper exploration of the poses, or for a more relaxing and restorative class. There may also be some yoga nidra, depending on how everyone is feeling that day. There will be one yoga free day.

Things to do

Puglia is an enchanting part of Italy with many interesting historical towns to visit, fabulous walks and bike rides to go on and up to 50 miles of beautiful coastline to explore.

The region boasts spectacular Italian cuisine and some of the the most un-spolit environments in Italy so you are sure to find something to enjoy during this break.

Between classes there will be plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings. Relax by the pool, explore the local area by bicycle or on foot. Take a trip to the beach or local towns. Boat trips and Ayurvedic massage can also be arranged for you. We guarantee you will go home feeling refreshed and re-energised.

Accommodation at Masseria della Zingaria

The accommodation at Masseria della Zingaria is comfortable and of an extremely high quality - most of the rooms have en-suite facilities.

Camping is also possible for those on a tighter budget. Tents and bedding are provided and facilities include a communal shower, toilet and wash basin nearby.

Prices include airport transfers for a designated flight to Bari, your accommodation, two yoga classes per day and use of the pool and bicycles. Meals are also included. Breakfast and a light lunch each day, unlimited drinks and dinner on five evenings. Plus transport on two evenings to and from local towns (where you buy your own dinner).

Client Reviews

There are no words big enough to describe the most incredible time I've had. Feeling re-energised, re-vitalised and re-juvenated! Made many great friends and am so so sad today. Missing you all (and the meditation & yoga!). I've never had such an amazing experience. I think your holidays should be on prescription really!

A big thank you to Catherine – what an incredible yoga teacher! I’ve woken this morning and the Scaravelli yoga retreat now seems like a colourful dream, the kind that stays with you long after you wake up. We were asked to move with subtlety, and at the same time constantly challenged to work hard. All of our sessions were fun, some felt wonderfully random, but by the end of the two weeks, I thought to myself, everything made sense as a perfect whole. I’ve taken with me many body memories, not least a new awareness of particular parts of my spine!

Thank you so much for a truly wonderful holiday! I'm so grateful to you for creating and sharing such a wonderful space. The Masseria offers such a conducive atmosphere to slowing down, relaxing and having a totally gorgeous holiday! Big big thanks to you all at the Masseria.
Kate
I had a wonderful holiday and I found everything perfectly organised! Not least the prompt and friendly email communication with you. The yoga, accommodation, food, pool, masseria, everything exceeded my expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to book another yoga holiday with you again in future.

Catherine belongs to an elite group of London yoga teachers who are at the top of their practice. Her understanding of the body and the language she uses to describe movements and poses is vivid and sophisticated. Her Scaravelli yoga classes are invigorating, challenging but also deeply relaxing.
Alicia
We had a wonderful time in Puglia, thank you. The resort was stunning, the host Jan was so warm and welcoming, the food was divine and the yoga - well let's just say that I've now graduated from headstands to handstands!
