Set in stunning countryside, Pauntley Court, dating back to the 1300s, offers a tranquil escape in a stunning location. Steeped in history, it is the birthplace of Dick Whittington and was home to Elinor Fettiplace. The house is full of character and offers luxury accommodation with far reaching views across the surrounding countryside.
Walk in the exquisite gardens, choose a bench to read your book, or simply get lost in the views. Just two hours from London and only one hour from Bristol and Birmingham, Pauntley Court is perfectly located for a weekend of yoga as you fill up on fresh air and nature.
The daily programme
The first class will be on Friday evening, followed by a delicious dinner. Jess will then lead you through two classes on the Saturday, a more dynamic morning class to align to body and breath and an afternoon practice to delve deeper into the postures and relax and restore. Each morning will start with meditation or a guided walk. On Sunday there will be a morning practice before breakfast, another shorter class before lunch and the end of the retreat.
Each day after morning yoga and a healthy breakfast, there will be the opportunity to walk, enjoy the beautiful grounds, have a massage or relax in one of the comfy lounges. A magical and very special country retreat. Arrival time on Friday 18 March is from 4pm onwards. The first yoga session will be at 5.30pm. The weekend will finish on Sunday 20 March after lunch at 2pm.
Things to do
The surrounding area offers an abundance of walks. If you fancy exploring further afield take a trip to Gloucester's historic cathedral and docks or add a day of walking in the Malvern Hills. There will be massages on offer in the free time, or curl up on one of the sofas to read or enjoy an afternoon nap.
Accommodation & food
The luxurious rooms are spacious, light and offer an extremely comfortable haven to relax and rest in. All rooms are very well appointed. Most are either en-suite or have their own private bathroom. Two rooms share a bathroom.
Delicious organic food will be served throughout the retreat. All meals are vegetarian - delights to nourish body and soul.
I really loved the weekend. The house was beautiful: impressive yet relaxing, we were made to feel thoroughly at home, with deep sofas and huge open fires. It was encouraging to be just given the run of the house and grounds, just as if we really lived there! The yoga was amazing. Jess was very knowledgeable, weaving in great wisdom and care into the practices. Over the course of the weekend she gave us practices that could be very challenging, some that were fast and energetic, others very slow and powerful and yet others that were deeply relaxing. She took great care to meet all our needs, encouraging adjustments as far as she could within covid protocols. Securing a fire-pit was no mean achievement and was a memorable moment. The food from Nemia was delicious! We were all asking her for her recipes. She took care to ensure there was no risk of anyone going hungry, and she cooked with love.Sarah
It is the ideal retreat for anyone wanting a break that focuses on well-being. I would absolutely do it again. Yoga on a Shoestring are a fantastic company to deal with, everything ran like a dream.Sarah
Just wanted to thank you for organising such an amazing retreat. It was perfect on every level. Jess was incredible. Such an amazing teacher and inspirational person.Sophie
