Set in stunning countryside, Pauntley Court, dating back to the 1300s, offers a tranquil escape in a stunning location. Steeped in history, it is the birthplace of Dick Whittington and was home to Elinor Fettiplace. The house is full of character and offers luxury accommodation with far reaching views across the surrounding countryside.
Walk in the exquisite gardens, choose a bench to read your book, or simply get lost in the views. Just two hours from London and only one hour from Bristol and Birmingham, Pauntley Court is perfectly located for a weekend of yoga as you fill up on fresh air and nature.
The daily programme
The first class will be on Friday evening, followed by a delicious dinner. Elena will then lead you through two classes on the Saturday, a more dynamic Vinyasa class to energise and an afternoon practice where you'll gracefully delve deeper into restorative postures, guided by soothing sound or kirtan. With space to contemplate Yoga Philosophy, each morning will start with meditation or a guided walk too. On Sunday there will be a morning practice before breakfast, another shorter class before lunch and the end of the retreat.
Each day after morning yoga and a healthy breakfast, there will be the opportunity to walk, enjoy the beautiful grounds, have a massage or relax in one of the comfy lounges. A magical and very special country retreat. Arrival time on Friday 10 September is from 4pm onwards. The first yoga session will be at 5.30pm. The weekend will finish on Sunday 12 September after lunch at 2pm.
Things to do
The surrounding area offers an abundance of walks. If you fancy exploring further afield take a trip to Gloucester's historic cathedral and docks or add a day of walking in the Malvern Hills. There will be massages on offer in the free time, or curl up on one of the sofas to read or enjoy an afternoon nap.
Accommodation & food
The luxurious rooms are spacious, light and offer an extremely comfortable haven to relax and rest in. All rooms are very well appointed and are either en-suite or have their own private bathroom. Two rooms share a bathroom.
Delicious organic food will be served throughout the retreat. All meals are vegetarian - delights to nourish body and soul.
It is the ideal retreat for anyone wanting a break that focuses on well-being. I would absolutely do it again. Yoga on a Shoestring are a fantastic company to deal with, everything ran like a dream.Sarah
Pauntley Court was an absolutely magical place to stay! Every room was exquisite - and the amazing bathtubs (and fluffy bathrobes) are an added beautiful bonus. There are lovely walks in the area but you barely need to leave the grounds for the beautiful views, and endless walled gardens and courtyards that pop up without you even knowing they were there!Rachael
When you learn something it's not just the practice that counts, it's the teacher, the whole experience, Elena is really special, empathetic and positively contagious.
I had such a wonderful weekend with you. I loved the yoga schedule with so much variety and continuity at the same time. Saturday was such a treat; filling the day with so much inspirational yoga as well as deeply relaxing breath and meditation practice too. Sunday's early morning walk was a perfect beginning to the day.Lucy
The house is absolutely stunning in every way, and the surrounding garden also doesn't disappoint. There is plenty of space to eat together and relax. The bedrooms are all beautifully decorated and the beds were very comfortable.Charlotte
