About the retreat

We are very excited to return to boutique retreat venue, 42 acres, for a New Year yoga retreat to honour the beginning of 2022 in idyllic surroundings with great teachers offering, yoga, meditation, pranayama and mantra, free movement and voice work.

Dory and Kate will guide you through a wonderful mix of strong precise practice that incorporates the mala and vinyasa approaches as well as exploring more fluid ways of moving. A typical class will include asana, pranayama, guided relaxation, chanting and a taste of philosophy.

Come and celebrate life and begin the new year with a clear mind, an open heart and a rejuvenated spirit. What better way to start the year!

Set in 42 acres of private land, this beautiful retreat space is encircled by seven hundred acres of ancient forest. Sustainability and comfort are at the forefront of the 42 acres vision with reclaimed materials used in the interiors of the property, plus all power is renewable and self-generated through biomass and solar.

The New Year programme

This retreat will be an opportunity for you to have some quiet time, space and contemplation. Alongside the morning and evening programmes of yoga there will be space to reflect and re-set for the new year.

After dinner on the first evening we will gather together to enjoy a delicious yoga nidra practice to set the tone of these self-nurturing days. The days will begin with silent meditation, pranayama and a little mantra chanting. This will be followed by the morning yoga class. We then have breakfast followed by free time before the afternoon yoga practice which will build on what we have done in the morning, either taking us a little deeper into the poses or slowing right down to find the still point and inner calm.

A retreat enjoying the full spectrum of yoga. Also on offer are beautiful countryside walks, delicious wholesome organic food, the warm fireside and quiet time to contemplate and space to simply be.

Our schedule includes optional extras and participants are welcome to offer talks or workshops over the four days which we will try to fit into our schedule. Spontaneity is very likely. This retreat is suitable for all levels of yoga.

Accommodation & food

Accommodation options range from single and twin rooms, some with shared bathrooms and some en suite, to a beautiful en suite master bedroom. Accommodation is set between three buildings, the main house, Deer Cottages and Swallows Barn, both just a few steps away from the main house. Deer Cottages are all ensuite rooms offering twin and double options. Swallows Barn houses single and double bed single occupancy rooms all with plentiful shared bathroom facilities. All rooms have high quality linen and towels.

The venue has several communal spaces for relaxing including a welcoming kitchen with cosy chairs by the fire, a library and a reading space. Delicious local, organic food will be served throughout the retreat. All meals are vegetarian.

Client Reviews

I cannot thank you enough for such a wonderful retreat at 42 Acres, I had such a lovely, peaceful time. Everything was absolutely wonderful: the food, the location, the classes, the massages and the people. I left feeling thoroughly rejuvenated and really inspired to explore yoga more.

42 Acres is a magical haven. The unobtrusive cool interior design is in a league of its own and absolutely bang up-to-date and yet, this beautiful home still retains its connection to the past. The setting is 42 Acres of glorious nature, gorgeous English farmland, bounded by ancient meadows and forests. I experienced one of the most magical weekends at 42 Acres and this place will forever be in my heart. I can't recommend it enough.
Kate, our yoga instructor, was a real treat - an inspiration of a person, really personable and just a joy to be around for the week. Her yoga was for all abilities and she really made an effort to get to know everyone in the group. I plan to go back next year and can not recommend this gem of a company enough. we will definitely be booking multiple holidays with them again.

I must also congratulate you on the fantastic choice of Dory Walker as our teacher - she is truly amazing. Incredibly warm and friendly, she made us all feel very welcome from the start and I felt really looked after...Dory has an incredible voice and aura about her and she is obviously really committed to what she is doing.
Natalia
I found Kate's teaching fantastic and she was very good at bringing a group together and holding the space. It felt a very safe environment to go deep into ones self. All in all I felt it to be an amazing experience on many levels and would not hesitate to book something with you again. I have been spreading the word already!!
Natasha
From the moment we arrived Dory made us feel welcome and at home. The yoga itself was sometimes challenging, but also invigorating. Dory has a way of teaching that enables you to explore what your body is capable of without pushing you, or comparing yourself to others in the room. The best part is the relaxation; covered in a cosy blanket with a lavender scented eye pillow, the evening falling outside...I don't think I have ever felt so relaxed. I will definitely be booking again.Thank you.
