About Vigla Village
The first thing to strike you about Vigla Village is it's sublime location on the Ionian Coast of the Greek island of Kefalonia. It's a feast for the senses as you take in the intoxicating smell of the pine and eucalyptus trees and the crystal clear, deep blue of the Ionian sea. Coupled with the welcoming and open-hearted Greek hospitality of Anna and Angelos, you cannot help but begin to relax as soon as you arrive.
Perched high on a clifftop, the clean and comfortable apartments with private balconies, overlook the inspiring panorama. Just a short stroll away you can take the picturesque path down to Vigla's own private beach and the warm and inviting sea.
Vigla Village simply blows you away; it's the sort of place that you want to come back to time after time.
The daily programme
Each day will begin with a flowing asana class on our wonderful yoga platform overlooking the endless blue ocean, opening the body and attuning the mind to the breath.
Morning practice will be followed by a hearty breakfast. Then you will be free to head off down to the beach, relax by the pool or explore the stunning beauty of the surroundings.
The group will meet again in the late afternoon for a second more restorative yoga session, often including pranayama and meditation as part of the practise. The classes will be suitable for all levels and yoga experience. There will be one yoga free day during the week.
In the evenings, there are a few charming traditional Greek tavernas within walking distance of Vigla. Lunch and dinner aren't included in the cost to give people the option to go for dinner as a group or self cater if they prefer, each apartment has a small kitchen.
Things to do
One could quite easily while away a week of deep rest and rujuvenation here, enjoying the wonderful private beach, swimming pool and tennis courts on offer. There's also plenty of space at Vigla Village to find a quiet spot in the shade of the trees enjoying the colours and fragrance of the beautiful flowers.
The local village, Spartia, also has its' own pretty beach just a 10 minute walk away and a small centre with a couple of shops and a restaurant.
For those of you with an adventurous spirit you could hire a car to explore the outstanding beauty of this island. Caves, boat trips, snorkelling, fishing, trips to stunning local villages and a visit to Myrtos, known to be one of the world's most beautiful beaches, are amongst some of the many things on offer in Kefalonia.
Vigla Village offers self catering apartments which are clean, spacious and have air conditioning and private balconies with sea views. All apartments have between one and three bedrooms and share a bathroom, small lounge area and kitchen facilities.
We had a really lovely time. The location is fantastic and Anna world really hard to provide the group with all they needed. Belle is a very lovely lady, I enjoyed her teaching style and learned a lot from her during the week.Carole
A note to say a huge thank you for a wonderful yoga holiday in beautiful Kefalonia. I had the most amazing time and am feeling totally refreshed and energised! Vigla was a perfect combination of stunning scenery, peaceful surroundings and warm hospitality from Anna and her family. Definitely somewhere I would love to go back to. I have also made so many new friends from our wonderful group.Melissa
Thank you Belle for a fabulous weekend of yoga - such a gorgeous place, and what a really lovely bunch of people. It was great for us to be able to touch base with each other, whilst enjoying some peace and relaxation. The yoga was great. You are a lovely host (with a lovely voice) and we so appreciated your relaxed and empathetic approach.Jemma
This was my second time at Vigla with Yoga on a Shoestring. I can't recommend it enough. Belle, the yoga teacher, offered such a varied and comprehensive week of yoga sessions with great knowledge, skill and warmth; Anna and Angelou who run the place are really friendly - nothing is too much trouble; and the place itself is stunning, peaceful and a stone's throw from a great restaurant.Clare
I had an absolutely fabulous week with Belle in Kefalonia- it literally could not have been better. The venue was perfect and Belle's teaching was spot-on. I really got a lot out of it and felt amazing upon my return to the UK. She did an amazing job making the classes diverse - there was a really good mix of challenging and more meditative/relaxing activities. It was a great opportunity to get immersed in pranayama and yoga nidra. Thanks so much for organising- I will definitely recommend yoga on a shoestring to others!Rosie
This was my fourth visit to Vigla Village, the second with Belle. When I arrived I was swamped by Anna and welcomed back by Angelo. How can you not be humbled by such a welcome. It's like when you're a kid and you go to visit your favourite aunt and uncle. You know you're in for a good time! The week passed too quickly because the yoga is so uplifting, the food is so good, the swimming is so good and the turtles obliging! What can I say about Belle that others haven't; I suspect nothing. She motivates, she inspires and she has this way about teaching all aspects of yoga that makes you not want to fail her. A rare quality for a leader. In a perfect world I would want a week at Vigla with Belle every month!Peter
