About Vigla Village

The first thing to strike you about Vigla Village is it's sublime location on the Ionian Coast of the Greek island of Kefalonia. It's a feast for the senses as you take in the intoxicating smell of the pine and eucalyptus trees and the crystal clear, deep blue of the Ionian sea. Coupled with the welcoming and open-hearted Greek hospitality of Anna and Angelos, you cannot help but begin to relax as soon as you arrive.

Perched high on a clifftop, the clean and comfortable apartments with private balconies, overlook the inspiring panorama. Just a short stroll away you can take the picturesque path down to Vigla's own private beach and the warm and inviting sea.

Vigla Village simply blows you away; it's the sort of place that you want to come back to time after time.

The daily programme

Each day will begin with a flowing asana class on our wonderful yoga platform overlooking the endless blue ocean, opening the body and attuning the mind to the breath.

Morning practice will be followed by a hearty breakfast. Then you will be free to head off down to the beach, relax by the pool or explore the stunning beauty of the surroundings.

The group will meet again in the late afternoon for a second more restorative yoga session, often including pranayama and meditation as part of the practise. The classes will be suitable for all levels and yoga experience. There will be one yoga free day during the week.

In the evenings, there are a few charming traditional Greek tavernas within walking distance of Vigla. Lunch and dinner aren't included in the cost to give people the option to go for dinner as a group or self cater if they prefer, each apartment has a small kitchen.

Things to do

One could quite easily while away a week of deep rest and rujuvenation here, enjoying the wonderful private beach, swimming pool and tennis courts on offer. There's also plenty of space at Vigla Village to find a quiet spot in the shade of the trees enjoying the colours and fragrance of the beautiful flowers.

The local village, Spartia, also has its' own pretty beach just a 10 minute walk away and a small centre with a couple of shops and a restaurant.

For those of you with an adventurous spirit you could hire a car to explore the outstanding beauty of this island. Caves, boat trips, snorkelling, fishing, trips to stunning local villages and a visit to Myrtos, known to be one of the world's most beautiful beaches, are amongst some of the many things on offer in Kefalonia.

Accommodation

Vigla Village offers self catering apartments which are clean, spacious and have air conditioning and private balconies with sea views. All apartments have between one and three bedrooms and share a bathroom, small lounge area and kitchen facilities.

Client Reviews

A note to say a huge thank you for a wonderful yoga holiday in beautiful Kefalonia. I had the most amazing time and am feeling totally refreshed and energised! Vigla was a perfect combination of stunning scenery, peaceful surroundings and warm hospitality from Anna and her family. Definitely somewhere I would love to go back to. I have also made so many new friends from our wonderful group.

My daughter and I have recently returned from your week in Kefalonia. I have done yoga for 40 years and in many parts of the world where I have lived but this was a wonderful experience as well as being a ‘holiday’ and one I hope to do again.
Julia
The holiday was one of the best I've had in a long time. The location was stunning and I really felt at home for a week. Jaya is a warm and charismatic teacher and really helped the group to come together. Everything was perfect!

Well organised, Vigla village was a fab venue for yoga holiday in Kefalonia. I would definitely recommend Jaya Jaks as a yoga teacher. I was new to yoga but it didn't matter. I particularly enjoyed the variety of yoga that we did. Thank you.

It was a really, really wonderful experience. I would definitely search out Jaya Jaks as a teacher, she is excellent at continually suggesting variations for different levels and creating and building up a diverse practice. She created such a lovely learning atmosphere and was so warm, available, supportive and accepting of the different needs at a yoga retreat. I also loved the location and friendly staff at Vigla Village, I would definitely return there too. Amazing views and sea breezes, so lucky to have a "private" beach and lots of space around. Clean, simple rooms and easy to get to, and from, the airport. My communication with YOAS has been precise, prompt and helpful. I will definitely book through you again. Thank you for a replenishing and nourishing yoga retreat.

The venue for this trip was simple and absolutely lovely! I shared a little house with a friend which had everything you needed. It was perfectly situated, and very close to an almost private, and absolutely stunning, beach. The view from the actual yoga-deck was breathtakingly stunning...such a perfect spot for yoga. Anna who run Vigla village was a wonderful, pleasant and very helpful lady and she provided beautiful breakfasts in the mornings. The restaurant just opposite Vigla Village was perfect - delicious food and it is family owned so everyone in the family was helping out with warmth and great service.

Jaya...one of the most wonderful yoga teachers I have ever met...a lovely, down to earth, warm and genuine person, funny, dedicated, sweet, VERY professional and, most importantly for me, passionate about what she does. She has been teaching for a long time but still has the glow and the most beautiful energy - a true inspiration to learn from and to just be around. I would recommend her to everyone, and would love to do more yoga with her as a teacher. So thank you, for this most wonderful week, I have only positive and wonderful things to say about everything.
