About Vigla Village

The first thing to strike you about Vigla Village is it's sublime location on the Ionian Coast of the Greek island of Kefalonia. It's a feast for the senses as you take in the intoxicating smell of the pine and eucalyptus trees and the crystal clear, deep blue of the Ionian sea. Coupled with the welcoming and open-hearted Greek hospitality of Anna and Angelos, you cannot help but begin to relax as soon as you arrive.

Perched high on a clifftop, the clean and comfortable apartments with private balconies, overlook the inspiring panorama. Just a short stroll away you can take the picturesque path down to Vigla's own private beach and the warm and inviting sea.

Vigla Village simply blows you away; it's the sort of place that you want to come back to time after time.

The daily programme

Each day will begin with a flowing asana class on our wonderful yoga platform overlooking the endless blue ocean, opening the body and attuning the mind to the breath.

Morning practice will be followed by a hearty breakfast. Then you will be free to head off down to the beach, relax by the pool or explore the stunning beauty of the surroundings.

The group will meet again in the late afternoon for a second more restorative yoga session, often including pranayama and meditation as part of the practise. The classes will be suitable for all levels and yoga experience. There will be one yoga free day during the week.

In the evenings, there are a few charming traditional Greek tavernas within walking distance of Vigla. Lunch and dinner aren't included in the cost to give people the option to go for dinner as a group or self cater if they prefer, each apartment has a small kitchen.

Things to do

One could quite easily while away a week of deep rest and rujuvenation here, enjoying the wonderful private beach, swimming pool and tennis courts on offer. There's also plenty of space at Vigla Village to find a quiet spot in the shade of the trees enjoying the colours and fragrance of the beautiful flowers.

The local village, Spartia, also has its' own pretty beach just a 10 minute walk away and a small centre with a couple of shops and a restaurant.

For those of you with an adventurous spirit you could hire a car to explore the outstanding beauty of this island. Caves, boat trips, snorkelling, fishing, trips to stunning local villages and a visit to Myrtos, known to be one of the world's most beautiful beaches, are amongst some of the many things on offer in Kefalonia.

Client Reviews

A note to say a huge thank you for a wonderful yoga holiday in beautiful Kefalonia. I had the most amazing time and am feeling totally refreshed and energised! Vigla was a perfect combination of stunning scenery, peaceful surroundings and warm hospitality from Anna and her family. Definitely somewhere I would love to go back to. I have also made so many new friends from our wonderful group.

My first ever yoga retreat was a great success in every respect. Ceri was professional, knowledgeable, friendly and fun. The classes were varied and she accommodated different levels of ability well. Resort was perfect, v quiet, clean, simple accommodation well run by Anna. Would have no hesitation recommending this.
Susie
I had such a great time. Ceri is an inspirational teacher. She combines deep understanding of the principles of yoga with a refreshing down to earth approach, kindness and a sense of humour. I couldn't recommend the holiday enough. Thank you Ceri!

I had a wonderful holiday in Kefalonia. It was my first yoga holiday and I will definitely be going on another one. Ceri Lee was a brilliant teacher; the yoga sessions were planned but flexible enough in content and style to account for our differing levels of yoga practice. The yoga was challenging (in a good way!) but also made me feel restored. Ceri provided excellent instruction, but also observed the group closely so that she could offer further tips or alternatives. The yoga platform overlooks the sea and is surrounded by fragrant eucalyptus and pine trees - it's a special, beautiful place! Vigla Village is a lovely place - the owner Anna was very helpful and provided a warm welcome.

This was my second yoga holiday at Villa Vigla and I have thoroughly enjoyed both weeks. The venue is absolutely beautiful with simple, spotlessly clean accommodation, perched on a cliff top overlooking the turquoise Ionian Sea. Both teachers (Ceri Lee & Dory Walker) have been expert, kind, helpful & keen to pass on their deep love of yoga. Anna & Angelo (who own Villa Vigla) cannot do enough for you & the breakfasts are AMAZING! I will definitely be going again next year!

A truly magical holiday. Ceri Lee’s yoga sessions both morning and evening were inspiring, empowering and thoroughly enjoyable. She was a breath of fresh air in the midst of a crazy world and the views from the yoga shala and the rest of Vigla village were stunning and we were looked after so well by Anna and her staff. I would relive this holiday in a heartbeat.
Jennifer
It was truly wonderful. Everything I had hoped for, and more. Ceri’s yoga was amazing and she was professional, caring and delightful throughout. I left feeling totally relaxed and happy. I hope to repeat the experience again.

Thank you so much for a truly amazing holiday in Kefalonia. This was my first yoga holiday and it exceeded all my expectations. The resort of Vigla is one of the most beautiful and relaxed places I have ever been to. Ceri is a wonderful teacher who truly cares about the well-being of her pupils. She accommodated all levels of ability in a friendly and fun atmosphere and inspired us all. She catered for both our physical and spiritual needs during the lessons and I returned home feeling refreshed and restored. I have already booked my next yoga holiday with Ceri and cannot wait to go!
Corinne
My mum recommended Ceri as she used to teach at our local spa and my mum loves her yoga. I can see why mum loves Ceri! She taught the yoga beautifully and passionately and each lesson was so well thought-out and planned. There was also a good variety of lessons in that no two lessons were the same. I particularly liked her readings and how thoughtful and soulful they are. She is good at catering for all levels and the yoga was perfectly pitched with easier and harder options. She is also fun, bubbly, warm and inclusive - ensuring that every person is well looked after and no-one is left behind. I would definitely do another yoga retreat with her in the future.
Sarah
I have just returned from my first ever yoga retreat in Kefalonia with Ceri and I have to say it was fabulous! Her style of yoga is perfect for me, gentle but feeling so strong at the same time. She has an amazing quality to read her class and deliver a practice that seems personal to you. I’ve returned home totally relaxed but also rejuvenated and would love to take part in another retreat with Ceri.
Anne
This was my first yoga holiday and I chose kefalonia because it was also my first visit to Greece. The week far exceeded my expectations. The accommodation was just stunning, the yoga platform could not have been placed in a more idyllic spot. Anna, the owner, was extremely helpful and informative and nothing was too much trouble. Ceri is a superb instructor. I personally have a few hip issues and she helped me through the sessions making me feel very able. She has such a calming quality about her that made every session meaningful and fulfilling. The only negative? A week wasn’t long enough in this magical place.
Tracey
A fabulous, inspiring yoga retreat in Kefalonia with Ceri Lee as our yoga teacher. 10 out of 10 for her inspiring approach with the right balance between spirituality and confidence building, supportive and stretching. Ceri has helped me get in touch with that inner peace and happiness. Really empowering and fun. This is the second time I have done this retreat with Ceri and I would love to do more work with her again. I loved the beautiful natural setting and the simplicity of Vigla Village. Truly one of the best holidays I have had. Thank you Ceri and Yoga on a Shoestring.
Katja
This was my first Yoga on a Shoestring holiday but it will not be my last! I loved everything about it! Firstly Ceri was utterly superb; her sessions were uplifting, inspiring and empowering and she managed to get me into positions I never dreamed I’d achieve. She was also great fun to be with and without intruding she got to know all of us and went out of her way to construct sessions that benefited each and every one of us both mentally and physically. Both Annas went out of their way to ensure we had a great holiday - organising taxis, activities, restaurants etc. I arrived like a coiled-up spring and left a week later relaxed, refreshed and enthused with new found energy to return to life at home.
Jennifer
I had such a great time in Kefalonia with Ceri Lee! She is really a wonderful teacher...I can’t praise her highly enough. She is very nurturing and takes into consideration the different needs of individuals in the class. I have been on quite a few yoga holidays before although this is my first with YOAS and I would definitely consider using the company again especially if Ceri was teaching as I think it’s rare to find a yoga teacher who is at the same time so knowledgeable and immersed in a real and pure yoga practice while remaining humble and down to earth when sharing her knowledge with her students. The location at Vigla Village was breathtaking, Anna really looked after us all without being intrusive. Thank you for a wonderful week!
Sarah
I just wanted to say that the week of yoga in Kefalonia with Ceri was fantastic. I arrived feeling fairly frazzled and left feeling much calmer and more energised. She is a brilliant teacher and made all the sessions interesting and different and has a lovely, warm personality. The situation too was beautiful, the rooms comfortable, breakfasts great (!) and attention to detail such as providing mats, bolsters and blocks, fruit, chocolates (and wine!) in the room on arrival were all great touches and very welcome. I would definitely recommend Viga Village and Ceri to anyone in need of a wind-down and time for reflection and relaxation - and that boost that we all need from time to time.
