About In Sabina

In Sabina, an elegant and breathtaking retreat centre in the heart of the Sabine Hills, offers spectacular views and a magical setting. Less than an hour north of Rome near Umbria, In Sabina lies in the midst of the untouched Italian country side.

The property is peaceful and rustic, offering a haven for spiritual practice, relaxation and rejuvenation. The retreat centre’s grounds are lush and abundant with lovely gardens, a pond, a natural spring and swimming pool. The perfect location for stunning sunsets and nature walks.

The daily programme

The yoga practice will be held outdoors on the magnificent wooden yoga platform overlooking the lush valley or in the serene and tranquil indoor yoga space with views over the hills and vales.

The day will begin with a dynamic flowing morning yoga class followed by breakfast on the terrace. Practice will include meditation and asana focusing on breath and alignment. After the morning session there will be time for massage, relaxing by the pool, swimming or a visit to the local village.

The group will meet again in the late afternoon for a more relaxing and restorative class. There will be one yoga free day and the classes will be suitable for all levels and yoga experience.

Three delicious Italian/vegetarian meals will be served daily. On one evening there will be dinner out at a local restaurant. Also, an optional day-trip excursion to Umbria will be available for those who would like to explore the culturally rich hill town of Orvieto.

Things to do

One could quite easily while away a week of deep rest and rejuvenation here. Relaxing by the swimming pool, having a massage treatment with an excellent therapist, finding a quiet secluded spot with a good book or taking a walk in the stunning natural surroundings. There are nice walks from the house and even better ones just a short drive away.

The area is rich in sites of historic and natural beauty. Only 10 minutes away, the charming medieval hilltop village of Casperia is a favourite haunt for In Sabina groups for dinner out on a Friday evening.

An optional day trip to the culturally rich hill town of Orvieto, just an hour away, is also offered during the week.

Accommodation at In Sabina

The exquisitely restored 17th century stone buildings have been converted into accommodation and overlook a panorama of olive groves and fruit trees. The rooms are designed in a simple, natural style, with a combination of new and antique furnishings. Four of the bedrooms are en-suite, the other rooms share a bathroom between two rooms.

All accommodation is shared between two or three people with limited availability for single occupancy.

There are two single occupancy bell tents close to the pool area with an outdoor hot shower and shared indoor bathroom facility. The yurts can be warm in the day but sometimes cold at night. There is no electricity inside - just simple solar lighting. They do not suit everyone - only those who like ‘comfortable camping’.

Comments

I was so blessed to have Tami as our yoga teacher. She provided a very warm and relaxed atmosphere for deepening my yoga practice on and off the mat. Tami is an extraordinarily experienced yoga teacher, offering clear instructions in a very nourishing and calm way, which helped me focus and steady my mind during the asanas. I loved her dynamic and energizing morning classes, which are designed to build up strength and flexibility. The restorative evening classes brought me to such a deep level of relaxation, which I had not felt for a long time.

We had a wonderful week at In Sabina - what a gorgeous place...the whole thing was a very positive experience for someone who doesn’t do much yoga! The admin side of things ran so smoothly too - no big fuss, just simple, clear and timely emails that made for a stress free holiday, thank you so much.

We had such a nourishing and relaxed time at In Sabina. Tami is an intuitive and attentive teacher offering us a fabulous combination of energetic vinyasa flow in the morning and a meditative yin practice in the afternoon. I love that she also shares nuggets of wisdom during our practice and a gentle adjustment now and again. She gives out a wonderful energy and is such a gentle, kind soul.

I have some really beautiful memories with me from the retreat In Sabina! Tami is a great teacher with knowledge and experience and a big, warm heart. In Sabina is just indescribably beautiful and peaceful, just as I hoped for and needed. Back home I often close my eyes and visualise the yoga platform with the stunning views, I could just sit there forever listening to the crickets, the birds, the leaves dancing in the wind and the lizards moving in the grass...

The Yoga week at 'In Sabina' was just fabulous. Not only was the teaching excellent, I also found the support team at In Sabina extremely helpful making sure we were comfortable and happy with our stay. I had the best vegan food here. I really came away so happy from this week. I highly recommend In Sabina and YOAS.

Travel Arrangements

It is a good idea to book your flights as early as you can for the cheapest deals. It is best to take a flight arriving between 12 midday and 4pm.

Rome has two airports: Leonardo da Vinci (Fumicino) and Ciampino. Leonardo da Vinci (Fumicino) is the best option for the shared group transfer. From Ciampino it is best to take the train.

There are many airlines that fly to Rome direct including Easyjet, Ryanair and BA.

Please note that arrival time at In Sabina on 4 July is between 4.30pm and 9pm. In Sabina cannot receive guests before then. The latest departure time on 11 July is 10am.

Transfers
We recommend that you join the minibus transfer from Leonardo da Vinci (Fumicino) airport which will be arranged to bring you directly to In Sabina. The price is very reasonable (and quick as it takes only 1 hours and 15 minutes) and in many cases costs less than taking the train - the exact price depends on the numbers.

The earliest time a minibus can leave the airport is 3.30pm and we suggest that if you are on an earlier flight that you wait there. You will be advised of the exact meeting point nearer the time.

Departure from In Sabina is by 10am on Saturday 11 July.

Trains
If you prefer to take a train the closest station to In Sabina is Stimigliano. From Fumicino (Leonardo da Vinci Airport) the train costs €11 one way and takes 1 hour and 50 minutes. A taxi from Stimigliano station costs €25 (for up to 3 people with little luggage). To check train times, see www.ferroviedellostato.it

There is no direct train from Ciampino Airport to Stimigliano Station.
