About Garth Barns

Garth Barns offers the perfect combination of beautiful location, great facilities and accessibility, set amidst the rolling hills of rural Wales.

Nestled in unspoiled and natural beauty in the countryside that surrounds the historic and pretty town of Llanidloes, the venue is world away from it all, deep in the charm of the Welsh countryside and yet easily accessed from London, Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham.

Retreat programme

Each day Lila will offer morning and evening yoga classes. Mornings will begin with mantra meditation followed by an energising yoga asana and pranayama practice. Later in the day there will be a more relaxing and restorative class to ease you into your evening.

After morning yoga and breakfast there will be the opportunity to explore, head out for a walk, take a dip in the wild swimming lake, have a sauna or simply relax.

On New Year's eve there will be a special dinner and a celebratory gathering around the bonfire. On New Year's morning there will be a post yoga dip in the swimming lake for the brave followed by breakfast and a long walk.

Arrival time on Friday 30 December is from 4pm onwards. The first yoga class will be at 5.30pm. The retreat will finish at 10am after a hearty breakfast on Monday 2 January.

Things to do

Garth Barns offers comfortable accommodation in which to relax and enjoy a good book. It's also the perfect setting if you want to amble about the local town or take to the hills and fields for a long (or short) nature walk. You can also take a dip in the natural swimming lake and warm up in the sauna post swim.

There will be delicious and healthy vegetarian food throughout the retreat and plenty of time just to hang out and chat, make new friends, read, relax and enjoy being in nature. Massage treatments will also be available from a local therapist.

Accommodation

The comfortable accommodation is finished to a high standard and all rooms are en-suite. There are single, double and twin room options.

The two large barn conversions that house the yoga space and accommodation are heated from renewable biomass and the drinking water is from the farm’s own pure spring water source.

The barns surround the old farmyard, now a lovely space with gardens and a stream running through. There's also a sauna, gym and a swimming lake for wild swimmers who fancy a New Year's morning dip. The venue is set within 200 acres of farmland with plenty of walks in the hills and valleys right on the doorstep.

Comments

The Garth Barns weekend was excellent- I feel rejuvenated! It was such a treat to get away to such a beautiful place and feel normal again. Jane and the team had made such a lot of effort to ensure we felt safe - which we did. The accommodation was very comfortable, the food yummy. I look forward to my next YOAS adventure...

The Garth Barns weekend was wonderful. Jane and Rowen were warm and welcoming hosts - they couldn’t do enough for you. The food was superb - Sarah is a fabulous cook - and plentiful. All-in-all excellent value in a wonderful peaceful setting with people who genuinely cared about what they were doing.

My favourite yoga retreat so far! A lovely group and fabulous teacher. Our teacher Lila Conway was a blessing, very grounding and nurturing. Thank you! I will be booking up for more retreats with you!
Sarah
Me and my mum had a wonderful time away at Garth Barns. Neither of us are true yogis, having both just done a course and a few classes, but it was brilliant, the food was amazing, the scenery and barns were wonderful, the swimming lake and sauna were perfect too. I can't say enough how much we both loved it. We will definitely be back!

We had a lovely time at Garth Barns. The food was delicious with plenty of it. Sarah works incredibly hard but also joins in conversation and therefore it feels like she’s part of the group. The same can be said for Rowan too. The barns themselves are comfortable and have very pleasant surroundings. The room we had was large and airy and the shower was excellent.
