About the Cambrian Mountain venue

A wonderful location to experience the expansive beauty of the Cambrian Mountains. The perfect setting for a get away from it all retreat for yogis, walkers, wild swimmers and nature lovers.

This former mountain lodge activity centre has been lovingly refurbished to offer spacious, comfortable accommodation with large windows to take in the stunning vista by day and star gazing by night.

The venue is set on the Glyndwr Way walking trail, in an area renowned for abundant wildlife with a wild swimming spot nearby. A tranquil escape in nature, easily accessed from London, Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham.

The daily programme

There will be two yoga classes each day with Ash in the fully equipped yoga shala overlooking the mountains. Mornings will begin with a quiet meditation and gentle pranayama followed by an energising yoga asana practice. In the evenings there will be a shorter relaxing, restorative yoga class to ease you into your evening.

Each day, after morning yoga and breakfast, there will be the opportunity to head out for a walk and explore the breathtaking surroundings or simply curl up and relax with a good book.

Arrival time on Friday 12 August is from 4pm onwards. The first yoga session will be at 5.30pm. The weekend will finish at 10am on Monday 15 August, after breakfast.

Things to do

The location is perfect for a retreat immersed in nature. Set on the long-distance walking trail 'The Glyndwr Way' and only minutes from the Hafren Forest with numerous trails leading to the source of the River Severn. The area is renowned for its red kites and ospreys on the nearby lakes. For wild swimming there's a pool on a nearby river and a mountain lake. For evening gatherings, star gazing and fireside chats there's a fire pit in the grounds.

The lodge is also just 20 minutes from the rural market town of Machynlleth or 45 minutes from the sea and beautiful beaches at Ynyslas or Aberdovey.

There will be delicious vegetarian food offered during the retreat and plenty of time to just to hang out and chat, meet new people, read, relax and enjoy being in nature and taking a break. Massage treatments will also be available at an additional cost.

Accommodation

There are ten newly refurbished bedrooms, some reflecting the venue’s former role as an outward-bound centre with built-in cosy bunk beds, and others with twin-bed or double-bed accommodation allowing for a range of options.

Each spacious room is normally kept for a maximum of two or three people sharing, unless otherwise requested, allowing for plenty of space and privacy. You will not have to double up in the bunk beds unless you want to!

Most rooms have a private shower room, toilets and washbasins are shared in separate female and male facilities. Four rooms share a shower room and separate toilet and washbasin with one other room.

Comments

It was an all round marvellous weekend. Ash is warm, funny, very inclusive and invitational and the yoga practices were mindfully put together. Ash also offered additional workshops for people who were interested. The sun shone and Jane and Rowan and Tina looked after us all very well and cooked the most delicious food. The venue was in gorgeous surrounds, was warm and comfortable; altogether I am so happy I went.

The retreat was amazing. Ash's classes and workshops were great, and exactly what I needed! The food was excellent and Sarah went above and beyond to make sure she catered for our dietary requirements and needs (even when they came last minute!). Jane and Rowan made us feel very welcome and had a lot of suggestions of things to do around the property. Will definitely come back!

The weekend was wonderful. Jane and Rowan were warm and welcoming hosts - they couldn’t do enough for you. The food was superb - Sarah is a fabulous cook - and plentiful. All-in-all excellent value in a wonderful peaceful setting with people who genuinely cared about what they were doing.
