About the Mountain Lodge

The Mountain Lodge is set amongst the breathtaking beauty of the Cambrian Mountains. The perfect retreat setting for yogis, walkers, cyclists, wild swimmers and nature lovers.

The lodge has been lovingly refurbished to offer spacious, comfortable accommodation with large windows to take in the stunning vista by day and star gazing by night. A tranquil escape in nature in an area renowned for abundant wildlife yet easily accessed from London, Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham.

Retreat programme

There will be two yoga classes each day with Ash in the yoga shala overlooking the mountains. Mornings will begin with a quiet meditation and gentle pranayama followed by an energising yoga asana practice. In the evenings there will be a shorter relaxing, restorative yoga class to ease you into your evening. Ash will also offer optional workshops throughout the weekend.

Each day, after morning yoga and breakfast, there will be the opportunity to head out for a walk, cycle or swim or simply curl up and relax with a good book.

Arrival time on Thursday 10 August is from 4pm onwards. The first yoga session will be at 5.30pm. The weekend will finish at 10am on Sunday 13 August, after breakfast.

Things to do

The location is perfect for a retreat immersed in nature. Set on the walking trail 'The Glyndwr Way' and only minutes from the Hafren Forest with numerous trails leading to the source of the River Severn. The area is renowned for its red kites and ospreys on the nearby lakes.

For wild swimming there's a nearby river and a mountain lake. For evening gatherings, star gazing and fireside chats there's a fire pit in the grounds. The lodge is just 20 minutes from the rural market town of Machynlleth or 45 minutes from the sea and beautiful beaches at Ynyslas or Aberdovey.

The retreat will also offer plenty of time to simply relax and enjoy being in nature. Massage treatments will be available with a local therapist.

Accommodation & food

The bedrooms are spacious, light and recently refurbished with single occupancy, double, twin and adult bunk bed bed options. Most rooms have a private shower or share with just one other room. Toilets facilities are plentiful and split between male and female.

There will be delicious, nourishing vegetarian food offered throughout the retreat.

Client Reviews

The Cambrian mountains retreat was really special - an opportunity to step away from busy life and slow down. I would go again on this retreat, plus I plan to book on other retreats through YOAS. The information sent ahead of time by Wendy was very clear, and Rowan & Jane were so welcoming, with delicious and nourishing food that always seemed to appear just when you realised you were hungry! They directed us to local walks and places where we could go wild swimming, walk or visit a nature reserve. Ash curated a safe, fun and very supportive environment at the retreat - you could have the yoga practice you needed, with space to ask questions and adjust where needed. The writing exercises helped me sink into the retreat, and restorative yoga sessions in the evening were just dreamy. And Kirsten seemed to relax the entire group with her inspired therapeutic massage techniques! The rooms and adjoining bathrooms had everything that we needed to be comfortable, and were spacious and very clean. There was a big and very comfy seating area with beautiful views across the hills and mountains.

Fantastic retreat in Wales with Ash Bond. Felt much longer than a weekend, always a good sign. Great yoga, company, food, location! Highlight was swimming in a lake in the nearby nature reserve on the hottest of summer days. Happy memories!
Lotte
