About Bonhays Retreat Centre

Bonhays is a beautiful eco-retreat centre, nestled in the hills of West Dorset, between Bridport and Lyme Regis and just two miles from the sea. The setting is secluded and peaceful, surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Set around a central courtyard with the soft curves of the straw buildings and the hills beyond, there is quiet and stillness here. Bonhays has lovely communal areas to relax and chat in as well as many peaceful and secluded spots for quiet and reflection. There is also an indoor heated swimming pool.

The coast and beaches are just two miles away if you want to get a dose of sea air and enjoy a beach walk or you may simply want to enjoy a peaceful moment on the decking and watch the sunset, swim peacefully in the pool, share wonderful meals in the conservatory, practice yoga and meditation; be and rejuvenate.

Evie, the chef at Bonhays, sources organic ingredients locally if she has not grown them herself and with her imaginative palette she produces lovely looking, healthy and very tasty food. All the food is vegetarian.

The daily programme

There will be a yoga class on Friday evening and meditation after dinner. On Saturday there will be two yoga classes, meditation and chanting, plus plenty of time to walk, rest, relax or take a dip in the pool or even the sea. There will be a yoga class on Sunday morning before lunch and goodbyes.

There are plenty of lovely walks, local beaches to visit and ample space to simply relax.

Accommodation at Bonhays

Single, shared twin or double rooms are available. There is also a shepherd's hut set in a quiet corner looking up the Marshwood Valley. The hut has electricity, a wood burner and is fully insulted and fitted with an outside tap. Camping with your own tent is also an option. Bathrooms, shower and toilet facilities are shared.

To allow space for all on this retreat, the numbers and shared accommodation have been limited.

Client Reviews

I had a wonderful weekend! Everything was perfect. My accommodation in the shepherd's hut was cosy and quirky and felt like a complete treat. I was just so happy to be looked after, in a lovely setting and introduced for the first time to the concept of a relaxing yoga break.

Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend. It was exactly what the doctor ordered! I live a fairly hectic life so to take a whole weekend for myself to relax, unwind and get a new sense of perspective was much needed and it felt so good. The best part is that I have carried that sense of peace, awareness and control that we blossomed over the weekend back home to the 'real world'. Life is good, I'm heading in the right direction, after clearing space at the retreat I can see that so clearly now.

The Yoga holiday was 10/10. Lila, the teacher, was fantastic. Her yoga style was perfect. Altogether I'm so glad I chose this retreat it gave me everything I required and more.
Carolyn
My favourite yoga retreat so far! A lovely group and fabulous teacher. Our teacher Lila Conway was a blessing, very grounding and nurturing. Thank you! I will be booking up for more retreats with you!
Sarah
thanks to Lila whom I experienced as a very special yoga teacher. She helped me and inspired me in ways she may not even be aware of. I have been able to make some positive changes as a result. I found in her an unusual blend of pure essential yoga combined with wisdom, experience, spirituality and grounded humour.
Mary
