About 42 Acres
Set in 42 acres of private land, this beautiful retreat space is encircled by seven hundred acres of ancient forest. Sustainability and comfort are at the forefront of the 42 acres vision, with reclaimed materials used to outfit the interiors of the property, plus all of the power is renewable and self generated through biomass and solar.
The daily programme
A wonderful opportunity for you to relax your mind, rejuvenate your body and reawaken your spirit. You will enjoy yoga classes which focus on movement, breath and relaxation.
The day will begin with a strong and dynamic asana class in the light, warm and airy yurt yoga space. After the morning session breakfast will be served. During the day there will be plenty of time for walks, massage treatments or curling up with a good book. There will be a delicious healthy lunch and the group will meet again in the late afternoon relaxing and restorative class. Meditation, vedic chanting and yoga philosophy will be woven into the classes.
Accommodation options range from dormitories to the master-suite, twin, double and single occupancy rooms. The main house offers the luxe dorm, master suite and twin shared bathroom rooms and single ensuite rooms. Set just a few steps away from the main house, Deer Cottages are all ensuite rooms offering twin, double and single occupancy options. Swallows Barn houses 6 single occupancy luxe rooms with shared bathroom facilities. All rooms have luxury linen and towels. The venue has several communal spaces for relaxing including a welcoming kitchen with cosy chairs by the fire, a library and a reading space.
Delicious local, organic food will be served throughout the retreat. All meals are vegetarian.
42 Acres is a magical haven. The unobtrusively cool interior design is in a league of its own and absolutely bang up-to-date, and yet, this beautiful home still retains its connection to the past. The setting is 42 acres of glorious nature, gorgeous English farmland, bounded by ancient meadows and forests. I experienced one of the most magical weekends at 42 acres and this place will forever be in my heart. I can't recommend it enough.
I cannot thank you enough for such a wonderful retreat at 42 Acres, I had such a lovely, peaceful time. Everything was absolutely wonderful: the food, the location, the classes, the massages and the people. I left feeling thoroughly rejuvenated and really inspired to explore yoga more.’Alice
The house is beautifully appointed and has very comfortable luxurious rooms, the perfect place to get away from the stresses of everyday life and find some well needed peace. I will definitely be going back soon.
42 Acres is a truly magical retreat: a sacred space of calm and peacefulness set in the restorative nature of Somerset...
I must also congratulate you on the fantastic choice of Dory Walker as our teacher - she is truly amazing. Incredibly warm and friendly, she made us all feel very welcome from the start and I felt really looked after as a pregnant lady too. She always made sure I had an alternative when I needed one and was very supportive throughout. It was also great having such a dedicated all-round 'yogini' to lead the course. I had never experienced meditation / chanting before and it really was quite other-worldly and magical. Dory has an incredible voice and aura about her and she is obviously really committed to what she is doing.Natalia
I can’t thank you enough for the weekend - you got rid of my middle-aged aches and pains and I am still feeling lovely and calm! The yoga was advanced (for me) but nothing hurt, it was worth the effort and it was so refreshing to have the chanting and a mini harmonium. You have a wonderful aura. 42 Acres is a beautiful place, the team were most welcoming.Alison
