Penpont is one of the finest houses situated within the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales.

This privately owned Grade I* listed house has been home to the same family since it was first built in about 1666. In 1992 Gavin and Davina Hogg, with their two sons, moved in and opened up the house and grounds for the first time in its history.

Magnificent in its grounds and on the banks of the River Usk, Penpont lies in the middle of a 2000 acre working rural estate. The house is the centre piece of a remarkable group of buildings spanning various periods, including a church, Dower house, stables, workshops, a dovecote on stilts and a 19 century conservatory.

Around the house lies extensive grounds, sweeping lawns, the old Victorian rose and walled gardens, riverside and woodland walks and more recently constructed the Green Man Maze and The Forest Garden.

Time has stood still at Penpont for much of the last century. This has contributed greatly to the unspoilt charm and tranquility which characterise the house and grounds. However, over the last 12 years a challenging yet sympathetic restoration programme has been undertaken.

THE DAILY PROGRAMME
We will meet at the main house on Thursday 28 June at  3:00pm & finish on Sunday 1 July.
There will be two yoga classes a day. Mornings will begin with meditation and pranayama (breathing techniques) for the early risers, followed by  first asana class around 8.30-10.30 am. In the evening we will have a shorter mediation and restorative asana class.

THINGS TO DO
There is lots to do at, and around, Penpont.

Fishing at Penpont
The River Usk, one of the largest rivers in Wales, flows 30 metres away from the house. Penpont has the fishing rights to a mile of the river. We let a limited number of rods per day and stipulate fly only. Tickets are £15.00 per day. Our guide, Richard White, is available for fly fishing tuition and guiding.

River Swimming at Penpont
We have a suitable swimming hole just beneath the bridge, with a small pebble beach. Being only about 15 miles from the source, the water always guarantees a refreshing dip for those hearty enough to take the plunge.

Tennis at Penpont
The All Weather Tennis Court, across the river, beckons the more energetic to enjoy the peaceful surroundings for a ‘knock about’ or serious game! Remember to bring your rackets, balls and trainers with you.

A five minute walk through Penpont’s woods, and a Victorian walkway tunnel under the A40 will lead you to our mountain board centre. Open at weekends, board hire and protective gear as well as tuition for novices, is available.
