Join Beatrice on this peaceful and relaxing holiday, set by the quiet unspoilt Mandrem beach that stretches for miles and miles. Ashiyana Retreat is a beautiful eco centre nestled amidst coconut groves on the Mandrem River, facing the sea.
Staying in luxury eco-lodges, tree-houses or stone-built houses within lush tropical gardens,this is a truly wonderful venue to rejuvenate, relax and reconnect to self and nature.

Mandrem is a peaceful, sleepy fishing village in northern Goa. It has a number of restaurants, an internet café, and a place to hire mopeds /taxis. 30 minutes away by road is the large market town of Mapusa, which has good coach connections to other indian towns and cities.
A pleasant 40-minute stroll north along the beach(10 minutes by taxi) is the lively and colorful village of Arambol. One of the main attractions to this distinctly 'hippy' hangout is the fresh-water lake separated from the sea by broad golden sands. It also has a post office,internet cafes, a small market, restaurants, laods of shops ,beach-front bars and lots of wonderful live music.
A southward stroll takes you along endless stretches of beach dotted with beach shacks and restaurants.

THE DAILY PROGRAMME
We will begin our day with early morning meditation and pranayama in the outdoor yoga-shala, followed by a dynamic yoga asana class. The evening sessions will vary from restorative postures to pranayama, chanting to meditation. There will be one yoga-free day during the holiday.
THINGS TO DO
Visit the bustling colourful market of Anjuna with hundreds of stalls, selling everything from clothes to statues, jewellery to cd's. And the Saturday night market (one of the largest in Asia) with it's live music, good food and high quality/interesting stalls makes for one of Goa's best nights out.
Enjoy evenings out in Goa's fabulous restaurants, dance under the stars to the sounds of local live music or simply relax on spectacular beaches with fresh coconut milk, watermelons, papaya, pineapples and a good book.
Hire a scooter to visit temples and far away beaches/villages or a boat to explore Goa's backwaters.
Ashiyana tends to keep their activities and physical presence as low-impact as possible, especially in regard to the quietness of Mandrem Beach. However there are kite surfing teachers along the beach and hand gliding from the cliffs. Elsewhere in Goa a variety of water sports are well catered for.

Air
Tranquil, yet not altogether remote, Ashiyana is a 90 minute taxi journey from Goa airport.
International charter flights and national flights arrive at Dabolim airport in Goa.
International flights
Overseas charter companies offer direct flights to Dabolim International airport in Goa.

Domestic flights fly from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kochi, and Chennai.

Pre-pay government taxis are available as you exit the airport terminal or we can organise a local mandrem taxi to collect you. (Rs1000).
Coach
The closest large town to Mandrem is Mapusa which has coach/bus connections to Mumbai, Bangalore, Mangalore, Mysore, Pune and other tourist destinations.
Mapusa is 25 mins by taxi from Ashiyana.
Train
Goa has two main railway stations Margao and Vasco da Gama. There are major connections to Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Rajkot and Thiruvananthapuram.and other nationwide destinations.
