About Masseria della Zingara

Masseria della Zingara, the house of the gypsy, was built in 1710 and has been lovingly restored to suit all ages and tastes. The interior is stylish and comfortable and has been restored with the highest attention to detail.

Set in over 20 acres of land with olive, fig, cherry and almond trees, the views are stunning at all times of the year. The house has a swimming pool and wonderful sun terrace for soaking up the Italian sun and the calm of the countryside. You may choose to borrow the bicycles and explore the local region or just relax and unwind. Close to Polignano a Mare (also known as the ice cream capital of Italy) and Monopoli, this holiday offers not only yoga but the very best in Italian food.

Situated on a ridge of hills extending the length of Puglia, Masseria della Zingara, is close to a series of scattered white-walled medieval towns and villages each boasting their own culinary specialities. Heading down through the olive plains to the sea where there are many fabulous beaches to explore. This is the perfect place to restore and rejuvenate your soul.

The daily programme

Join Catherine for a week of revitalising yoga at the beautiful Masseria. A wonderful opportunity for you to relax your mind, rejuvenate your body and reawaken your spirit in beautiful Puglia, Italy. You will enjoy two yoga classes daily which focus on movement, breath and relaxation.

The day begins with the morning class in the light and airy yoga space which includes meditation and practice focusing on breath and alignment to release and unwind long held tensions. After the morning session breakfast will be served on the terrace. The group will meet again in the late afternoon to work into a deeper exploration of the poses, or for a more relaxing and restorative class. There may also be some yoga nidra, depending on how everyone is feeling that day.

There will be one yoga free day and the classes will be suitable for all levels and yoga experience.

Things to do

Puglia is an enchanting part of Italy with many interesting historical towns to visit, fabulous walks and bike rides to go on and up to 50 miles of beautiful coastline to explore.

The region boasts spectacular Italian cuisine and some of the the most un-spolit environments in Italy so you are sure to find something to enjoy during this break.

Between classes there will be plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings. Relax by the pool, explore the local area by bicycle or on foot. Take a trip to the beach or local towns. Boat trips and Ayurvedic massage can also be arranged for you. We guarantee you will go home feeling refreshed and re-energised.

Accommodation at Masseria della Zingaria

The accommodation at Masseria della Zingaria is comfortable and of an extremely high quality - most of the rooms have en-suite facilities.

Camping is also possible for those on a tighter budget. Tents are provided and facilities include a communal shower, toilet and wash basin nearby.

Prices include airport transfers for a designated flight to Bari, your accommodation, two yoga classes per day and use of the pool and bicycles. Meals are also included. Breakfast and a light lunch each day, unlimited drinks and dinner on five evenings. Plus transport on two evenings to and from local towns (where you buy your own dinner).

Thank you so much for a truly wonderful holiday! I'm so grateful to you for creating and sharing such a wonderful space. The Masseria offers such a conducive atmosphere to slowing down, relaxing and having a totally gorgeous holiday! Big big thanks to you all at the Masseria.
Kate
I had a wonderful holiday and I found everything perfectly organised! Not least the prompt and friendly email communication with you. The yoga, accommodation, food, pool, masseria, everything exceeded my expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to book another yoga holiday with you again in future.
Sara
You are the best Scaravelli yoga teacher I have ever had, and I love your mixture of a very thoughtful and intelligent approach to yoga with a light touch and sense of humour. You also seem to be genuinely interested in your pupils – it’s not all about you.
Amanda
We had a wonderful time in Puglia, thank you. The resort was stunning, the host Jan was so warm and welcoming, the food was divine and the yoga - well let's just say that I've now graduated from headstands to handstands!
Sarah
Thank you for a lovely yoga retreat. What a lovely house and lovely host. Jan clearly goes the extra mile in making sure everyone has a great time. The food was delicious as well as healthy and lots of it...I certainly hope to be back.
Marie
I had the most wonderful weekend thank you...so much. Really nourishing. The Scaravelli yoga was magical, inspiring and it has given me a whole different perspective – I really enjoyed it, and so did my body, it was a wonderful experience.
Emily
Great experience from start to finish. Extremely well organised, everything you need for a relaxing week. Stunning venue and food and Catherine Annis is a great teacher. I was new to Scaravelli yoga and yoga retreats and can honestly say I will definitely do this again. I stayed in the tent for a week and was amazed at how comfortable it was and how quickly I adapted. Thank you Catherine, Jan at the Masseria Della Zingara and Yoga on a Shoestring for putting together such a fabulous week.
Dianna
We had a wonderful week on the yoga retreat. The yoga tuition was excellent and we were looked after so well. Jan was so friendly and hospitable, which made us feel at home almost immediately. The food and drinks were also excellent. Maria is a great cook and she coped so well with the various dietary requirements along with using lovely fresh ingredients. Of course we were also very fortunate that the group all got along well together. The Masseria is a great location for a retreat. It is quiet and peaceful but not too far away from various towns that we were able to visit. The rooms, garden, grounds and the pool were all very much appreciated. I would love to do another Yoga on a Shoestring holiday but it would be a hard choice whether to visit a new location or return to the Masseria!
Julie
The Masseria della Zingara is a wonderful place, Jan is so welcoming and created a friendly, relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a yoga retreat. Catherine is a great teacher and it was such a pleasure to practice with her. The week passed all too quickly!
