About West Lexham
West Lexham is a thriving country Manor Estate that has been transformed by the Colville family to bring it back into local community life. It is a unique blend of elegant country manor estate with a wonderfully bohemian vibe, set in beautiful gardens, woodland and only 30 minutes drive from the sea.
The Estate offers an idyllic natural environment with an eclectic range of accommodation from peaceful, modern en-suite rooms to cosy cottages. The heritage barn has been stunningly converted and provides an airy, bright space with underfloor heating, perfect for yoga and entertaining.
The daily programme
This retreat will be an opportunity for you to be in company with old friends or making new. Or if you prefer it will offer the chance to have some quiet time, space and reflection. Your choice, alongside a morning and evening programme of yoga, pranayama, meditation and much fun and celebration.
Each morning there will be a yoga and meditation class followed by a delicious breakfast with free time and lunch to follow. We will then meet again in the afternoon for another yoga practice. There will be a celebratory dinner on New Year's eve with fun, fireworks, a bonfire and celebrations.
Between classes there will be time for walks, trips to the beach, massage treatments or the space and time to simply hang out with a good book or chat and make new friends by the fireside. We will ask participants to help with cleaning up at meal times but nothing too much. We will be one big family creating a new year to remember. Can’t wait to see you there.
Accommodation at West Lexham
West Lexham offers unique, beautiful and very comfortable accommodation with a mix of twin, double, triple rooms, dorm spaces and amazing treehouses.
There are luxurious en-suite rooms set around a courtyard adjacent to the yoga barn. All have underfloor heating and huge windows which flood the rooms with natural light. They combine rustic charm with funky modern twists.
Charming and cosy traditional flint cottages are also part of the Estate. Each one has a luxury vintage chic interior with twin or double bedrooms, a kitchen and shared bathroom.
We have also created space for a small dormitory for 4 people as a more affordable option and we have stunning fully- heated tree-houses for groups of friends, solo travellers or families.
I'd just like to say what a fabulous experience the New Year retreat at West Lexham was. It was brilliantly organised, the location was excellent, and the facilities were really good. Both Kate and Dory were fabulous teachers and their approaches complemented each other brilliantly. It was really inspiring to be able to sample lots of different practices and spiritual techniques. The chanting, music and meditation practices were the perfect way to enter the New Year. The food was fantastic, the company was great, and the New Year's Eve bonfire was a great way to welcome in 2016. I met loads of lovely new people and it was an all round great experience. Already considering next year... :-) Thank you so much, namaste.Kevin
The new year's retreat was fantastic, thank you - the food was outstanding, the people were great, the yoga teaching was top quality and the whole atmosphere was a great way to see in the new year for yogisPete
This was my second New Year retreat in West Lexham. Loved it, lovely people, great food, excellent yoga, relaxing , challenging and inspiring. I just love the place, you feel like you are at home, loved curling up with a book in the village hall, watching the fire in the wood burner, and I love the fact that there is under floor heating in the yoga room in the barn! Can't fault any of it.Sonia
Just returned from the yoga retreat in Norfolk and I feel refreshed, reinvigorated and ready for the new year! Thank you for such a lovely time! I've made new friends & it's great to start the new year so positively.Clara
I had the best time! A New Year to remember (and you can quote me) for all the right reasons. The accommodation was so beautiful: the grandest of settings but with the most comfortable and comforting of furnishings. From the enormous wood burning stoves to the delightful candle lit paths, from the conversation facilitating dining tables to the sole soothing underfloor heating, all was bliss!
The food was such a treat (my only gripe is that I put on weight! On a yoga retreat!!), plentiful, healthy and yet always with a hint of indulgence, each meal offered a taste sensation and the two chefs were so lovely. And then there was the yoga - I only attended Tania's classes, because having attended the first, I couldn't tear myself away. Doing vinyasa in a candle-lit room with underfloor heating and a wood burning stove! What more could I ask for? Oh, I know, soothing music and an inspiring and encouraging teacher - and we had those, too. As you can tell, I had a fabulous time. I made some lovely new friends and was able to end the old and begin the new year in a perfect place, both literally and metaphorically.Denise
In a word the break was quite simply amazing! The venue was absolutely beautiful and we were immediately made to feel at home. The quality of the classes was absolutely superb – with the combination of Nigel and Tania offering a real choice depending on the mood. The catering was excellent too – with a great variety of food as well as a permanent supply of cakes and snacks so one could never feel hungry. Best of all was the company – met a lovely bunch of like-minded people and came away with a whole bunch of new friends. Really couldn’t find any way you could improve upon it. Already planning my next one!Matt
I had a lovely relaxing time in Norfolk. Yoga with Tania and Nigel was amazing and I feel thoroughly rejuvenated. It felt as if I was away weeks not days. A perfect way to spend New Year with new friends! I shall be coming again and recommending it to others.Melissa
It was a wonderful retreat, we were blessed with such great weather which was a bonus - along with the fab company, terrific teachers, fun and games, wonderful food and space. We had laughs, dynamic stretching, a heated floor, lots of goodies, time by the fire to read and chat, a country walk, peaceful moments, a brilliant bonfire end to the year and so much more. Thanks to everyone who made it happen. I loved West Lexham manor and would definitely recommend both that as a venue and Yoga on shoestring as a company.Jane
I have only positive things to say about my stay - everything was well-managed, organised and delivered. All aspects in just the right sentiment - professional and warm. The food was amazing. I had a wonderful time and I have been singing the company's praises to all that enquire. A big thank you.Yvette
What an amazing retreat. I can sum it up in one word - exceptional, and you can quote me on that! Thank you to everyone who made it possible. I am already looking forward to going on another one!Joanna
