About Vigla Village

The first thing to strike you about Vigla Village is it's sublime location on the Ionian Coast of the Greek island of Kefalonia. It's a feast for the senses as you take in the intoxicating smell of the pine and eucalyptus trees and the crystal clear, deep blue of the Ionian sea. Coupled with the welcoming and open-hearted Greek hospitality of Anna and Angelos, you cannot help but begin to relax as soon as you arrive.

Perched high on a clifftop, the clean and comfortable apartments with private balconies, overlook the inspiring panorama. Just a short stroll away you can take the picturesque path down to Vigla's own private beach and the warm and inviting sea.

Vigla Village simply blows you away; it's the sort of place that you want to come back to time after time.

The daily programme

Each day will begin with a flowing asana class on our wonderful yoga platform overlooking the endless blue ocean, opening the body and attuning the mind to the breath.

Morning practice will be followed by a hearty breakfast. Then you will be free to head off down to the beach, relax by the pool or explore the stunning beauty of the surroundings.

The group will meet again in the late afternoon for a second more restorative yoga session, often including pranayama and meditation as part of the practise. The classes will be suitable for all levels and yoga experience. There will be one yoga free day during the week.

In the evenings, there are a few charming traditional Greek tavernas within walking distance of Vigla. Lunch and dinner aren't included in the cost to give people the option to go for dinner as a group or self cater if they prefer, each apartment has a small kitchen.

Things to do

One could quite easily while away a week of deep rest and rujuvenation here, enjoying the wonderful private beach, swimming pool and tennis courts on offer. There's also plenty of space at Vigla Village to find a quiet spot in the shade of the trees enjoying the colours and fragrance of the beautiful flowers.

The local village, Spartia, also has its' own pretty beach just a 10 minute walk away and a small centre with a couple of shops and a restaurant.

For those of you with an adventurous spirit you could hire a car to explore the outstanding beauty of this island. Caves, boat trips, snorkelling, fishing, trips to stunning local villages and a visit to Myrtos, known to be one of the world's most beautiful beaches, are amongst some of the many things on offer in Kefalonia.

Accommodation

Vigla Village offers self catering apartments which are clean, spacious and have air conditioning and private balconies with sea views. All apartments have between one and three bedrooms and share a bathroom, small lounge area and kitchen facilities.

Client Reviews

A note to say a huge thank you for a wonderful yoga holiday in beautiful Kefalonia. I had the most amazing time and am feeling totally refreshed and energised! Vigla was a perfect combination of stunning scenery, peaceful surroundings and warm hospitality from Anna and her family. Definitely somewhere I would love to go back to. I have also made so many new friends from our wonderful group.
Melissa
A wonderful week. The yoga with Maurizio was inspirational. I came back feeling rejuvenated and determined to continue my practice. Anna was very welcoming and ran an excellent ship. The group although large got on well and there was a great feeling of us all practicing together. All together a very harmonious and enjoyable week.
Deborah
Thank you so much for organising such a great trip. Anna at Vigla was a great host and the accommodation was really well looked after. The breakfast was lovely and the area absolutely stunning. Maurizio's classes were very good and catered for all levels. The morning class had a dynamic approach and the evening a yin / restorative feel. I really enjoyed the stay, the people and yoga.
Lucile
It was a wonderful week on this beautiful island. I enjoyed the great yoga classes (as always with Maurizio) with this breathtaking view from the yoga platform. It‘s a nice resort, delicious breakfast and a very, very nice group of people.
Veronika
Maurizio's teaching is very good. It all starts so simple and soon we are trying positions we have not even seen before, all as a logical end to a sequence of preparatory stretches and asanas. I had several "aha" moments in Maurizio's classes, some breakthroughs which was very satisfying. What can I say? Everything, including the people who attended this holiday, was perfect. Can't wait to try another one.

I am definitely happy to report that I had the best time on the yoga holiday in Kefalonia with Maurizio. The setting, the hosts, the weather, the wonderful yoga with Maurizio, not to mention his Thai massage were all wonderful and I felt so sad to leave at the end. There is just one word - BLISS!
Glenda
I really enjoyed the retreat, thank you. It’s such a beautiful place! Anna was very welcoming and helpful and Maurizio was a fantastic teacher - challenging but intuitive and very aware of the mixed abilities of everyone in the class. I feel that my yoga came on leaps and bounds under his guidance. As a retreat, I think it’s definitely a really good place to go for those who want something not too restrictive or intense. Having free-time during the day and dining at local tavernas in the evening made it feel a bit more relaxed and like a holiday with yoga classes, rather than a "retreat" as such, which was not a bad thing. Overall, it was great value for money and I'll definitely be recommending it to friends.
Kate
It was a really great week with lovely group of people! Scenery, food, place and people - all to be remembered (and missed!) in London. Our host Anna was welcoming and helpful beyond her duty and Maurizio was incredible yoga teacher. I had a really enjoyable and unforgettable experience.
Alyana
I had a brilliant time. Maurizio is a brilliant teacher.
