About Bonhays Retreat Centre

Bonhays is a beautiful eco Retreat Centre, nestled in the hills of West Dorset, between Bridport and Lyme Regis and just two miles from the sea.

The settling is secluded and peaceful, surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Set around a central courtyard, with the soft curves of the straw buildings and the hills beyond, there is quiet and stillness here. Bonhays has lovely communal areas to relax and chat in as well as many peaceful and secluded spots for quiet and reflection. There is also an indoor heated swimming pool.

The coast and beaches are just 2 miles away if you want to get a dose of sea air and enjoy a beach walk, or you may simply want to enjoy a peaceful moment on the decking and watch the sunset, swim peacefully in the pool, share wonderful meals in the conservatory, practice yoga and meditation; be and rejuvenate.

Evie, the chef at Bonhays, sources organic ingredients locally if she has not grown them herself and then with her imaginative palette she produces lovely looking, healthy and very tasty food. All the food is vegetarian.

The daily programme

There will be a yoga class on Friday evening and meditation after dinner. On Saturday there will be 2 yoga classes, meditation and chanting, plus plenty of time to walk, rest relax or take a dip in the pool or even the sea. There will be a yoga class on Sunday morning before lunch and goodbyes.

There are plenty of lovely walks, local beaches to visit and ample space to simply relax.

Accommodation at Bonhays

Single, shared twin or double rooms are available. There are also two shepherd's huts set in a quiet corner looking up the Marshwood Valley. The huts have electricity, a wood burner and are fully insulted and fitted with an outside tap. They have a double bed so are suitable for one person or a couple. There is also the option to camp.

Bathrooms, shower and toilet facilities are shared.

Client Reviews

Thank you Belle for a fabulous weekend of yoga - such a gorgeous place, and what a really lovely bunch of people. It was great for us to be able to touch base with each other, whilst enjoying some peace and relaxation. The yoga was great. You are a lovely host (with a lovely voice) and we so appreciated your relaxed and empathetic approach.
Jemma
A wonderful weekend. I really can't say anything critical at all - the place was unique and cozy, the food was really impressive, the people were all friendly, the yoga was brilliant, the other activities were varied and fun (film, walks around house, chanting, time on ones own or chatting with new friends).
Belle was an excellent teacher and gives so much. We felt fortunate that she is such a good musician too and we loved hearing her sing.
Vivienne
I had a wonderful weekend! Everything was perfect. My accommodation in the shepherd's hut was cosy and quirky and felt like a complete treat. Belle was a superb and inspiring yoga teacher on top of being delightfully welcoming, warm and friendly...as well as marvelously musical, which I enjoyed very much. I was just so happy to be looked after, in a lovely setting and introduced for the first time to the concept of a relaxing yoga break. It will not be my last time I'm sure. I'll start planning for next year..many thanks for the high standards.
Harriet
I thought the weekend was excellent. Belle was fantastic throughout and the venue was amazing.
