Holiday Expired

Before the festive season is upon us we head to the luxurious setting of the 42 Acres retreat space in Frome, Somerset for a magical weekend of yoga and an opportunity to revitalise and enjoy reconnecting with self and others.

About 42 Acres

Set in 42 acres of private land, this beautiful retreat space is encircled by seven hundred acres of ancient forest. Sustainability and comfort are at the forefront of the 42 acres vision,  with reclaimed materials used to outfit the interiors of the property, plus all of the power is renewable and self generated through biomass and solar.

The daily programme

Flowing, traditional hatha yoga sessions will naturally open the heart and nurture you to a space of surrender and stillness. A typical class will include asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), hands-on adjustments, guided relaxation, chanting and a taste of philosophy. Typically each class will last for 2 hours.

The days will begin with silent meditation, pranayama and a little mantra chanting. This will be followed by the morning yoga class. We then have breakfast followed by free-time, massages and then the afternoon yoga practice.

In the evenings there will be other activities that may include meditation, inspiring cinema and chanting.

Accommodation

Accommodation options range from dormitories to twins and single rooms (en-suite options are available) with luxury linen and towels provided. The centre has several communal spaces including a library and a meeting and reading space.

Delicious organic food will be served throughout the retreat and all meals are vegetarian.

Client Reviews

42 Acres is a truly magical retreat: a sacred space of calm and peacefulness set in the restorative nature of Somerset...
42 Acres is a magical haven. The unintrusively cool interior design is in a league of its own and absolutely bang up to date, and yet, this beautiful home still retains its connection to the past. The setting is 42 acres of glorious nature, gorgeous English farmland, bounded by ancient meadows and forests. I experienced one of the most magical weekends at 42 acres and this place will forever be in my heart. I can't recommend it enough.
The house is beautifully appointed and has very comfortable luxurious rooms, the perfect place to get away from the stresses of everyday life and find some well needed peace. I will definitely be going back soon.
I am still feeling the positive effects from my break. The location was beautiful, the food fantastic, the people lovely and Dory, by far, is the best teacher I have had in 18 years...
I really enjoyed it all and found the space and quiet I needed ! Doing so much yoga was great! You are both so gifted at facilitating...so nurturing and calm. A joy!
‘I cannot thank you enough for such a wonderful retreat at 42 Acres, I had such a lovely, peaceful time. Everything was absolutely wonderful: the food, the location, the classes, the massages and the people. I left feeling thoroughly rejuvenated and really inspired to explore yoga more.’
Alice
Thank you for a wonderful reviving autumn retreat at 42 Acres with Dory and Alison. All the sessions were well planned and enjoyable. I really enjoyed Dory's teaching style, and I've taken away and reflected on many of the insights she shared with us over the weekend. Will book again next year!

I can’t thank you enough for the weekend - you got rid of my middle-aged aches and pains and I am still feeling lovely and calm! The yoga was advanced (for me) but nothing hurt, it was worth the effort and it was so refreshing to have the chanting and a mini harmonium. You have a wonderful aura. My cranio-sacral massage was amazing, cosmic in fact! I also really enjoyed Alison’s evening writing session. 42 Acres is a beautiful place, the team were most welcoming.
